hide.me Black Friday Deal: 30 Months vs NordVPN and Proton

hide.me's Black Friday deal is my pick for anyone who hates a renewal jump, with 30 months of VPN Premium, 24 paid and 6 free, for 69.99 in total, according to VPNRatings. Its Price Guarantee renews that term as another 30 months at the same 69.99. Surfshark charges least of the four for a 12-month plan in our own data, so it suits a reader paying for one year.

Provider Price a month, 12-month plan Download speed in top10vpn's review
NordVPN £4.09 96 Mbps
Surfshark £2.19 96 Mbps
ProtonVPN £3.59 88 Mbps
Hide.me £4.23 97 Mbps

Prices and speeds in the table come from The VPN Advisor's own comparison data, last checked between September and October 2026.

hide.me's 30-month deal locks its renewal price

hide.me's sale opens on 2 November 2026 and closes at 23:59 UTC on Cyber Monday. hide.me has never sold a longer term. Its blog says there are no separate standard and promotional rates. Nor does hide.me move a multi-year subscriber onto a shorter, dearer renewal once the first term ends.

A cancelled plan keeps Premium up to the last day you paid for. After that, hide.me drops your account to its free tier. That tier gives unlimited data at restricted speeds, with 8 locations and 1 connection at a time, VPNToolPick says. It needs no credit card. hide.me says it warns customers before a subscription runs out so they can pick a plan.

NordVPN's sale price triples at renewal

NordVPN started its Black Friday sale early, on 21 October, and runs it to 9 December 2026, Cybernews reports. Its 2-year plans come with 3 bonus months, for a first term of 27 months. Cybernews lists NordVPN Basic at 3.49 a month on that term, or 94.23 upfront. Complete, the plan NordVPN calls its most popular, is 3.99 a month, or 107.73 upfront for the same 27 months.

Set beside hide.me in our side-by-side comparison, a year of NordVPN costs £49.08 on our yearly figures, against £50.76 for hide.me. VPNAlert puts Basic's renewal at 139.08 a year once the sale term ends, more than three times its sale rate. Complete renews at 219.48 a year. BestBackupReviews notes that NordVPN's plans move to yearly billing at standard rates after the sale term unless you turn auto-renewal off. The company lets you switch it off straight after buying without losing the term you paid for.

Proton VPN Plus renews yearly after 24 months

Proton VPN Plus is 2.49 a month on its Black Friday 24-month term, Mashable reports, billed as 59.76 for those first 24 months. After that it renews at 83.88 every 12 months. TechNadu points out that the 2.49 matches Proton's promotional price from last year rather than setting a new low.

Proton's sale also takes in Mail, Drive, Pass and the Unlimited bundle. Proton Unlimited's first Black Friday year costs 77.88, working out at 6.49 a month, before it renews at 119.88 a year. Plus itself blocks ads, trackers and malicious domains through NetShield, and its no-logs policy has been independently audited. Our data marks hide.me, NordVPN and Surfshark as running RAM-only servers, a setup ProtonVPN lacks.

Surfshark's year costs least of the four

A year of hide.me costs £24.48 more than a year of Surfshark on our yearly figures, a gap set out on our comparison of the two.

Of the four, only Surfshark's pricing page labelled a plan a Black Friday deal as of 17 October, Tunnel Report found. It allows unlimited devices at once. It blocks ads and trackers, as hide.me does, where NordVPN has no blocker in our data. Surfshark's apps are closed source, though NordVPN and ProtonVPN publish theirs.

hide.me Premium's network and no-logs record

VPNRatings counts more than 2,600 hide.me Premium servers in 92 locations, spread over 57+ countries. Yahoo Tech's review adds that each one sits physically in the country it serves. You can pay by card, PayPal, SEPA, bank transfer or crypto such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and Monero.

Securitum's July 2024 audit confirmed hide.me sticks to its no-logs policy. Its transparency report shows that no request from 2013 to 2024 led to user data being handed over. hide.me stores only your signup email in encrypted form and wipes troubleshooting data every few hours. SmartGuard, hide.me's ad and tracker blocker, stops working on its multi-hop and streaming servers. A refund means opening a support ticket inside the refund window. The money can then take up to 10 days to reach you. Our data lists hide.me's apps as closed source too.

A locked renewal makes hide.me's 30 months worth buying

Choose hide.me if you want to buy once and know the next bill, since it renews at the price you paid. A blocker that skips streaming servers is what you accept for that certainty.

Pick Surfshark for one year at the lowest cost of the four, and accept closed-source apps in return.

ProtonVPN suits a reader who wants NetShield's ad and malware blocking on a two-year Black Friday term, though a dearer yearly renewal follows.

NordVPN serves a reader who will switch auto-renewal off the day they buy, since Basic otherwise renews at more than three times its sale rate.
