We never sell your data
Affiliate commissions on sign-up clicks fund the site. That is our entire revenue model — your personal data is not for sale, ever.
LEGAL
How The VPN Advisor handles your information — in plain English, no legalese.
If you only read this far, here is the gist.
Affiliate commissions on sign-up clicks fund the site. That is our entire revenue model — your personal data is not for sale, ever.
Anything we collect is encrypted in transit and at rest, on infrastructure with monitoring, firewalls and regular security reviews.
No third-party ad pixels. No marketing tags. No personalised ad networks profiling you off the back of your visit here.
PRIVACY
This policy applies to thevpnadvisor.com and every service we run from it. We've written it in plain English so you can actually read it. It explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have to take back control.
Three small buckets. Website analytics — page views, time on page, country-level location. Contact details — if you email us or use the contact form, we keep your email and message to reply. Technical data — your browser type, device info and IP address, which is never stored permanently.
No mandatory user account. No cross-website tracking cookies. No sensitive personal data (health, finance, location-down-to-the-street). No data sold or rented to third parties. If you can use the site without telling us anything, we'd rather you did.
Four reasons, in priority order. To improve the site (which guides are useful, which load slowly). To respond to you when you email or use the contact form. To keep the site secure (spotting abuse, blocking attacks). To shape what we write about next, based on which topics readers actually want.
A short list. Our analytics service (server-side, privacy-friendly, anonymised). Our hosting provider, who has technical access to the servers. Law enforcement — only if legally compelled and only the minimum required. We don't share your data with the providers we review, marketers, advertisers, or affiliate networks.
Encryption in transit (HTTPS everywhere) and at rest (encrypted disks). Infrastructure behind firewalls, with 24/7 monitoring and intrusion detection. Regular security updates and reviews. Access to backend systems limited to the small team behind the site, two-factor authentication required.
Under UK GDPR, EU GDPR and CCPA, you have the right to access what we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, export it in a portable format, or restrict how we use it. Email us via the contact form and we will respond within 30 days. No charge, no friction.
Two cookies. One essential — keeps The VPN Advisor working (your consent choice, session, security). One analytics — anonymous, country-level, opt-in. The "Cookie Preferences" button at the bottom of every page lets you change your mind any time. See our cookie policy for the full breakdown.
When we update this policy, the date at the top changes. Material changes (anything that affects what we collect or who sees it) get a notice on the site. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new terms — if you don't, stop using the site or email us first.
May 2026.
Four rights, every reader, no exceptions. Email us and we respond within 30 days.
Ask us what we hold about you. We send the data in a portable, readable format — usually JSON or CSV.
Spotted an error in our records? Email us and we will fix it and confirm in writing.
Ask us to wipe what we hold. We will, and we will tell you what was removed and when.
Tell us to stop processing your data for a specific purpose. We will stop and confirm.
